New Development by W3SZ for Present and Future LINRAD Users

W3SZ Knoppix Linrad Users Data and Information

Mission Statement.

As Linrad has been designed to be used on a Linux Operating System, installing it, often generates questions and problems for non Linux Users.

Many radio amateurs like to run communication programs without having to become a Linux GURU.

The idea here is to collect date about Benchtop and Laptops computers that WILL work from the W3SZ_Knoppix_Linrad CD.

We would like to come to a hardware package, consisting of a computer with minimum required RAM, audio and soundcards,
and perhaps monitor and mouse requirements.

With these minimum hardware requiremnts and the Knoppix_Linrad CD, one should be able to build a WORKING Linrad computer.

Of course, this will be only a suggested and safe approach that gets you fast to results with a minimum of questions.

In the end you might develop an interest in Linux, not such a bad thing in Amateur Radio.

    We will try 2 sections:

    1 Systems that work.

2 Systems that do not work initially with the identified reason(s) why they do not. This section will be more important than section 1.
Here in particualr one might see Laptop entries with not so standard audio and video hardware among others..

Here is a listing of users who summited their computer components:
