Samples from Work done with Radio Astronomy Supplies Radio Telescopes

Spectra Cyber Spectrometer

Here is CasA recorded with the spectrometer. We see absorption by the dust in spiral arm between us and CasA. Otherwise we'd just see continuum emission as a fairly flat line. The frequency of the absorption gives the dust's velocity. We haven't gotten the hang of doing local standard of rest calculations and corrections so the frequency is off by about 20 kHz due to Earth's rotation around the Sun and day/night rotation velocity. But it is good to see that we can get a graph that closely resembling the one in Kraus at bottom of page.
