23.5 CM EME System

6 Meter aluminum frame (3000+ pop rivets) and mesh reflector of 0.375 f/D, fed by a W6HD three ring scalar horn. The reflector is mounted on an SCR 584 radar pedestal converted to DC motors. Pointing control uses F1EHN software with absolute position encoders. Resolution is 0.01 degree; absolute accuracy is better than 0.1 degree. System temperature in the radar, CP mode is 43K and the EIRP is 4.5 MW.
The eastern horizon is ten degrees; to the west it is 2 degrees. An Icon 970 with the 1296 option drives four solid state modules to 80 Watts output. A YL 1050 Tetrode PA produces 1000 Watts at the feed. The LNA noise temperature is 15K with a total gain of 56 dB and internal bandpass filtering. Support software includes the AF9Y audio spectrum analyzer which gives a visual presentation of the IF passband in a 100Hz analysis bandwidth. Receive system performance is monitored using radio stars, the moon, and solar noise.
