SSB spectrum of a FT817 on 14 MHz. The serial number is 1K450401. Note that the A/D converter is saturated This spectrum may be inaccurate, but most probably it gives a true picture of the ssb signal from this rig. The keyed CW test for this unit as well as for another unit show spectra that look similar to this ssb spectrum. The fact that the A/D converter is saturated at some point during the measurement has probably not affected this ugly spectrum, but nevertheless the measurement is faulty and should not be trusted.

The FT817 has severe ALC problems, look at FT817 on 144 MHz where very strong splatter is observed on another unit. The unit shown here and a third unit show extreme ALC generated keying clicks as can be seen here: Spectra of keyed FT817 units.
