[linrad] Re: Svgalib 1.9.20 ; Re: [linrad] Re: SVGALIB 2.9.19 under Debian

Hello Zaba!

I have been searching and svgalib-1.9.x is not present at the debian official sites. Even it is not at the "unstable" distribution. Svgalib 1.9.x is not a "estable" release, so Debian do not have it on its software repositories. So if you want svgalib 1.9.x, you have to compile it from scratch. I posted in this list how to do it under Debian some time ago.

Also, note that debian splits svgalib into several packages.

So far I have seen posts only referring to 1.9.19 and earlier.
I have had my biggest battles with the 1.9.17 - 1.9.19 helper
modules, and indeed I have never succeeded under SuSE/Knoppix.
If I remember correctly Gentoo had a distro-matched 1.9.17-r2
svgalib package and it worked right away in Gentoo 2004.x

Try it under Debian, I am sure that it works.

I will wait for your results.

Ramiro.

This is probably my first posting on the 'Linrad' list, but
I have seen most of the posts of the last few years. I have
a Delta-44 card as a new expansion, so I may put more serious
effort into the Linrad hardware from now on. Good luck to all!
