The only requirement Linrad has on svgalib is that it has to 
be installed. The problem with the RPM is that it does not install
svgalib properly (therefore we know that no other programs use it.)

Just remove the RPM, nothing will suffer from that, then make 
a "standard" install from the tarball so you have full control
of everything.
