Subject: RE: [linrad] Linrad Questions

HI, Kohjin!

I have placed the following bzip'd Linrad S files on the web. These are
nothing special. I didn't wait till the bands were hot, or look for
special signals. I was working when I got your message, and it was the
middle of the night here, so I just took 'The Time Machine' to the band
in question and recorded 30-90 seconds (roughly) of a 90 KHz or so swath
of the band, at 0030 local time this a.m. while between work duties. I
just made sure there were some signals in each file and then uploaded
them to the web. The HF band files were obtained by hooking up an R7
vertical to the input BNC connector of The Time Machine. The VLF file
was obtained by hooking up a 108 inch active antenna to the AMRAD VLF
converter, which was hooked up to the BNC input connector of TTM.
Output (I/Q) of TTM went directly to Linrad. Each file starts at an
even 100 KHz mark on the band in question and goes up 90 KHz from there.
I have lots of birdies, but there are interesting signals as well. On
the VLF file there are 3 or 4 beacons, which appear on Linrad (when run
at the proper waterfall speed) as pairs of vertical dashed lines around
a central carrier. The dashed lines are of course the morse code
identifiers of the beacons. All files were made with the appropriate
plug-in band filter supplied for that band by the folks that make TTM.

The files are:

Morse Beacons

http://www.qsl.net/w3sz/40m1.bz2 12.611 MB size 40 meter CW band

http://www.qsl.net/w3sz/40m2.bz2 17.936 MB size 40 meter DX phone

http://www.qsl.net/w3sz/20m1.bz2 19.620 MB size 20 meter phone

I checked the URL's and all of these are available for download.

Let me know your comments, and if you want something else I can try to
do it.
