Same basic problem. To add them in SuSE you use the YAST2 software installer. You just tell it to install all the C/C++ compiler and tools and follow the instructions.

When you installed Linux, you probably did not install the packages for
"developers".  Check your Red Hat documentation, and it will tell you how to
install those programs.  If I remeber correctly, they give you an option to
add stuff when you click the big red hat at the lower left of your screen.
