Re: [linrad] Install SVGALIB Problems

Stan
I had a fair bit of trouble with svgalib.
In the end I ignored a lot of errors and the so.1 libraries (libvga.so.1.4.3 and libvgagl.so.1.4.3) were present after compiling.
I ended up copying them to the relevant directory (/usr/lib I think) as ligvga.so.1 and libvgagl.so.1 and linrad would work after about 3 days of struggle!

In my quest to become more competent at programming I have been working through the Kdevelop and Qt Designer tutorials. These are better than ever as an IDE for development
Trolltech/Qt has an embedded version which is designed to run on cut down embedded Linux Platforms. This does not
use the X graphics server but rather uses direct graphics routines similar to svgalib.
To the programming experts - Could Linrad be easily adapted to use these?
If and when I get up to speed I would be willing to do some work on this. However it may well be a gigantic task.

Flushed out the hard drive and reloaded all of the SUSe 9.0 Pro software
KDE came up so I went to runlevel 3 in the /etc/inittab file to get the command line.
did UPDATEDB and LOCATE vgagl.h and got no response, so nothing to remove.

Went to install svgalib-1.4.3.tgz and proceed to make install without error.
upon make install I got multiple lines saying
does not give a valid preprocessing token
for
HDisplay
HSyncStart
HSyncEnd
HTotal
VDisplay
VSyncStart
VSyncEnd
VTotal

Then:

make [1]: ***[.depend.src] Error 1
make [1]: Leaving directory '/usr/local/src/svgalib-1.4.3/sharedlib'
make: ***[sharedlib/libvga.so.1.4.3] error 2

Any suggestions on what to do to get svgalib working ?

NASM installed OK. without error.
