Oooh, this is rather old. Now there are many new distributions and
as far as I know Linrad runs happily under all of them.
The builtin sound system does work sometimes but usually
I found it necessary to install OSS.

Linrad uses simple, stupid straight C code and as far as I know
it works with all GCC versions.
