As far as Linux goes, while you could pay for the licensed version at OSS,  
and I have done so in the past, I am currently using the 'FREE' version of  
the drivers because with my multiple sound cards on multiple machines it  
was easier to use the free version than to worry about licenses.  The free  
version needs to be updated every 6 months or so but that is not a big  
deal in my opinion OR experience.

So I would recommend going to

http://www.opensound.com/download.cgi

and downloading the free version of the drivers that is correct for your  
situation.
